Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance

Basic Life and AD&D

If you have loved ones who depend on your income for financial support, you are probably aware of the importance of Life and AD&D protection. Life insurance pays your beneficiary a benefit if you pass away, and AD&D insurance pays a benefit if your death results from an accident or if you are severely injured in an accident.

NFM Lending offers Basic Life/AD&D insurance through The Hartford. Enrollment is automatic and NFM Lending pays the full cost for your coverage. You only need to designate a beneficiary.

Will You Ever Need Life Insurance?

Enrollment Guaranteed Issue (GI)

Employees may elect to increase their coverage by one (1) unit of $10,000, and the Spouse may elect to increase their coverage by one (1) unit of $5,000 during the Open Enrollment period without medical underwriting.

Any benefit amounts above the case level Guaranteed Issue are subject to Evidence of Insurability (EOI).

It is the EMPLOYEE’s responsibility to complete and submit an Evidence of Insurability (EOI) form.

An EOI form is required for coverage elections above the GI or if coverage was previously waived or not elected during the initial eligibility period.

Note: Benefit coverage and payroll deductions for newly elected amount will not take effect until EOI is approved by the carrier.

Disability Benefits

Short-Term Disability

If you become disabled and can’t work, no benefit becomes more important to your financial security than disability income protection. To ensure your income will continue if you are unable to work due to a disability, NFM Lending offers short-term disability (STD) through The Hartford. Benefits are payable for a non-occupational injury or illness that keeps you from performing the normal duties of your job. If a medical condition is job-related, it is considered Workers’ Compensation rather than STD.
